Terrorism threat level raised

Following terrorist incidents in Essex and now in Merseyside in the last month, the national threat level from terrorism has been raised from Substantial, to Severe, meaning an attack is ‘highly likely’.

The change made by the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) on Monday 15 November 2021, is a precautionary measure and not based on any specific threat.

Please be alert, but not alarmed by this change.

Communities defeat terrorism. Remain vigilant, and if you do see anything suspicious report it, in confidence, to police on 101 or via gov.uk/ACT. In an emergency always dial 999.

Your information won't ruin lives, but it may well save them.
