What started as an investigation in 2019 into an organised crime group involved in supplying cannabis and cocaine ended with 20 people being sentenced in the courts.
Intensive work by the EMSOU team uncovered a well-established criminal arrangement between a man from Leicestershire and one from Derbyshire, which led to more and more people involved in the supply of drugs being identified, as well as a number of kilograms of cannabis and a quantity of cocaine being seized. Evidence pointed to the cannabis having been imported from the USA.
Over the past three months, 20 defendants were sentenced at Leicester Crown Court, having previously pleaded guilty to various drugs offences.
PC Rosie Wood said: “Drug offending ruins lives and we will not tolerate it being brought into our communities. We will continue to act on information received and we will take all the steps required to bring those responsible before the courts.
“If you have information or concerns regarding drug offending please continue to inform us and continue to work with us so that we can continue to take this action to remove drugs and drug offending from our streets.”
